Course Description

This course is highly recommended for freshman and sophomore students who are interested in learning how to function effectively in the business world. Some of the topics included in this course of study are the economy, banking and saving, investing in the stock market, accounting principles, marketing, management and leadership skills required to become successful in the business world. The application and importance of business etiquette and ethics will be introduced. One highlight of the course includes a visit to the Chicago Board of Trade, the Mercantile Exchange, and the Federal Reserve Bank. Additionally, the students will participate in a Stock Market trade competition. Students will also engage in an entrepreneurship unit to enhance their understanding of what is involved in owning their own businesses. After completing this course, students will understand how the different components of the business world operate and interact with each other, and will gain exposure to the skills necessary to function well in today’s changing economy.
