Survivor P.E. is based
on the popular television
series "Survivor". The game is based on 4 principles: 1.)
cooperation; 2.) acceptance;
3.) involvement; and 4.) FUN!! The class has been divided into 4 equal "tribes" and each week the tribes must perform different group challenges in order to win beads for their tribal necklaces. These challenges are cooperative in nature because cooperation is directly related to communication, cohesiveness, trust, and the development of positive social-interaction skills. The students must help one another by working together as a unit (tribe) - each student being a necessary part of that unit, with a contribution to make. This in turn will help the students learn to share, to empathize with others, to be concerned with others' feelings, and to work to get along better. Each tribe has given itself a unique name and we have designed a logo for t-shirts. A different color t-shirt designates each tribe. These shirts are worn (in place of their gym shirt) on "Survivor Day". |
