CHALLENGES

Ant Hospital ...a tag game in which each student wears a heart rate monitor and the tribe with the most minutes in their heart rate zone wins.  The rules of the game are as follows:
Select one or two people to be the "exterminators" and designate two or three areas to be "hospitals".  The remaining students are "ants".  When an exterminator tags an ant, the ant must lay on his back (dead) until other ants carry him to the hospital and then he may re-enter the game.
Balance Beam Shuffle ...your tribe stands on the balance beam and must reverse their order without falling off.  All tribe members must remain on the beam during the task.  If any person touches a mat, the floor, or the legs of the beam, the entire tribe must get off and start over.  Fastest tribe wins.
Balance Block ...your entire tribe must balance on a milk carton.  The group needs to find a way to help each other maintain balance.  You can also designate how many people must be on the "block".
Blind Man's Bluff ...the "adapted" students lead their peer-helper on a blindfolded trust walk.  (role reversal)
Bowl - Backward ...each tribe member bowled backward through their legs and each tribe's total score was tallied.
"Bunny Hop" ...this was your basic sack race.  (Wheelchair users carried the sack)
Dizzy Izzy ...this was a relay race in which each tribe member had to run to a baseball bat, place their forehead on the handle of the bat and circle around it 5x, and then run back and tag the next tribe member.
"Double Trouble" ...each tribe had to transfer their team across the gym by pulling 2 people on 2 scooters at once, with a wheelchair.
Egg Carry ...each tribe member carried a plastic egg on a spoon as a relay race.
Egg Trap ...this was a relay race in which each tribe member had to carry a plastic egg by trapping it between his forhead and the forehead of another tribe member.
"Foot" Bowl ...each tribe member bowled using only their feet and each tribe's total score was tallied.
Hampster Wheel Race ...each tribe had to get their whole team across the gym by walking or crawling inside of a mat.  Strategy was involved as each tribe had to decide whether to travel with all members at once, or to take three across, one back, etc. until all were across.  Also if anyone fell out of the "hampster wheel"  everyone had to start over.
Knots ...tribes formed a knot by holding hands.  You could not hold the person's hand on either side of you and you could not hold both hands of the same person.  The tribe that got untied the fastest won the challenge.
Noodle Mania ...these were a variety of "noodle" races in the pool.  For example;  1.) you had to pull your partner across the pool and back using a noodle;  2.) your whole tribe had to move across the pool and back while staying connected to each other using noodles.
Partner Pull ...each tribe had to transfer their team across the gym by pulling one member on a scooter at a time behind a wheelchair.
Rafting ...tribes must row across the gym in a plastic boat moving on top of tennis balls.  Tribes must decide how to keep the "water flowing" and the "boat moving".  The tribe that completed this task fastest won the challenge.
Ramp Bowl ...all tribe members must bowl using a bowling ramp.  The team with the highest average wins the challenge.
Runaway Train ...one member from your tribe had to pull all of the other members (who are seated on scooters) across the gym with a wheelchair.  The "train" had to stay attached the whole time.
2-22 Scratch ...the class had to pass through the jump rope following a certain pattern which they had to figure out.  For example, 22 people in the class had to go through 2 at a time.  The tribe that figured out the pattern first won.
Ships and Sailors ...this game is like Simon Says, only it has a team aspect.  A designated caller calls out one of the following tasks and if you don't have a partner, or move when you are not supposed to, you are out.  The tribe that has the last person to "survive" wins.
RULES:
"ships" -- run to the right
"sailors" -- run to the left
"captains coming" -- stand at attention;  you must stand at attention until the caller says "at ease" or you are out.
"at ease" -- you are now free to perform the next command
"hit the deck" -- fall flat on the floor
"lover's leap" -- hold partner or put hands on a partners shoulders
"three men in a tub" -- sit in a row of 3 people
"four men eating" -- get in a circle (around a table) holding hands
"iceberg" -- move into a group of 5 people
"cabin boy dance" -- kick your feet out to the sides while saluting.
(...some strategy is involved as you try not to allow your tribe members to be eliminated.)
"Stand-off" ...one student stands shoulder width away from someone in another tribe.  Each person tries to make the other person lose their balance by pushing on their hands.  Keep playing until only one person is left.  That person's tribe receives the point.
Tarzan ...the student's try to swing from one "vine" to another "vine".  This is just for fun with no winners or losers.
Tennis Ball Catch ...one tribe member must balance on two hard, small cones and try to catch 10 tennis balls in a net.  All of the balls had to stay in the net.  The net was such that if the ball landed in the net with too much force, a ball in the bottom of the net would fall out.  The first tribe to complete the task won.
Touch Points ...the tribe members had to move their tribe across the gym using only a designated number of body parts touching the floor.  This required strength, intelligence, cooperation, and a lot of creativity.  This activity was just for fun with no winners or losers.
"Tubes" ...tribe members had to work cooperatively to roll a marble down short pieces of PVC tubing until they reached the end of the gym.  If the marble dropped the whole tribe had to return to the starting line and begin again.  The tribe to cross the gym first won.
Twister ...we had 5 or six games going at once with one person from each tribe competing against each other.  The tribe with the most winning matches won the challenge.
"Windy City" Egg Race ...tribe members had to blow a plastic egg across the mat and back.  The first team to finish won the challenge.
