President:
- Presides over nine NCHS Home & School meetings (one per month). She prepares and sets the agenda.
- Coordinates the printing and mailing of the Home & School Directory.
- Represents NCHS Home & School at school and District functions. Solicits parent volunteers.
- Speaks at various programs about Home & School.
- Directs the Communication between Home & School and the Parents.
- Attends monthly General Home & School meetings.
- Works will all committees on the Home & School and troubleshoots.
Vice President:
- Perform he duties of the President in his/her absence and other duties delegated by the Board.
- Responsibility for organizing the Mother-Son Brunch and the Father-Daughter Dinner/Dance.
Secretary:
- Responsible for keeping a permanent record of meetings by keeping the minutes.
- Minutes are distributed to all board members and are approved by the board on a monthly basis.
- The Secretary also does any correspondence, as directed.
Treasurer:
- Responsible for all the financial records of the Home & School. Including writing and disbursement of moneys. Preparation of the financial records for audit purposes.
Dance Committee:
- Dance Committee is the volunteer support to the Student Councils for the Homecoming and Winter Dances.
- We are divided into four parts: coat check, decorations, food and photography.
- Coat Check provides a secure place for the students to leave their coats, purses, and other belongings during the dance.
- Decorations decorates the cafeteria the morning of the dance.
- Food provides food and beverages to the students in the cafeteria during the dance.
- Photography helps to keep the photography line orderly. Photo packages are offered by Prestige Photography.
- To volunteer to decorate, serve food and beverages or help with photography send in the volunteer sheet from Home & School with your students registration to submit on line.
Membership:
- Prepare Volunteer Opportunities Form
- Get feedback regarding Volunteer Opportunities Form from the board members
- Finalize Form
- Forward Volunteer Opportunities Form along with cover letter to Mr. Caudill's office as this form will be included in the Registration mailing. Mr. Caudill's office makes the necessary copies.
- Pick up returned forms from the Home & School mailbox after every registration day
- Prepare spreadsheet for each of the volunteer areas
- School Store needs the list of volunteers before the first day of school. Therefore arrangements need to be made in order for them to get the list in a timely manner
- After all data has been inputted into the spreadsheets, copies are made and distributed to Committee chairs.
- Copies of the entire worksheet are made available to the Home & School President
- Have copies of spreadsheet available at every meeting
- Attend monthly board meetings
Newsletter:
- One person is responsible for the typing and publishing of the Central Scenes, the NCHS newsletter, that is published six times per school year.
Newsletter Mailing:
- This committee gets together six times per school year to label and sort the newsletter. This only takes a few hours at a time.
Parent Awareness/Parent Involvement:
- These committees help enhance communication between school, family and the community.
- The Parent Awareness Committee assists the drug, alcohol, and tobacco abuse and violence prevention efforts at NCHS in cooperation with C.A.S.A. (Community Against Substance Abuse).
- The Parent Involvement Committee helps support the dissemination of information about programs and activities at NCHS to the parents of students and the community. It also identifies and integrates resources and services of the community to strengthen school programs and aid the development of new ideas and programs.
Parent Coffees with the Principal:
- WHAT: Informal gathering of 20 - 25 people with Mr. Paulsen and another administrator. Parent questions are encouraged.
- WHEN: Five or six coffees are planned in the fall. Four are planned in the spring.
- WHERE: Volunteer hosts open their homes to the event. There are sign-up lists available in registration packets and at the eighth grade Open House.
School Store:
- Purchase the supplies and organize the volunteers to work the school store.
- The Store is open everyday of the school year, except on early dismissal days, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.
- Not only do we sell supplies we also sell gym shirts, shorts and locks. We register students for various tests (ACT, SAT, PSAT, AP) that occur during the school year and also pass out pictures.
Senior Class Party:
- Liaison to the Senior Class Party and Home & School.
Volunteers:
- This three year committment involves a committee of three members who are asigned to specific Administrators, and are responsible for scheduling the volunteers needed for their various pre-approved activities throughout the year.
