2007 Varsity Preview

The Varsity Redhawks are returning seven starters from last year's team:  Captains Jordan Williams, Atul Gupta, Charles Yen along with Senior JC Bicek, Juniors Tyler Hoffman, Neal Walters and Chad Loughmiller, and Sophomore Rachit Marwaha.  Joining the returning players this year are Juniors Dave Naccache, Grant Bishop, Kevin Chen, and Felix Chang, and Sophomores Ganesh Ramakrishnan and Robby Jensen. 

The Redhawks' main goal is to recapture the DVC title while going 7-0 in Dual Matches.  Beyond that, the team has a goal of capturing the NNHS Sectional and advancing as many players to the IHSA State Tournament as possible through the difficult sectional.  There is a lot of competition for the 2nd Singles and 2nd Doubles positions.  They will join Tyler, Jordan and Atul in the sectional line-up. 

The Redhawks start the season with two non-conference matches, followed by the Red Devil Invitational.  Conference play begins the week of April 16 and continues through the second week of May.  Weekend tournaments during Conference play include the Downers Grove Team Tournament, the "Hill Invitational" in Bloomington, and the "Tom Pitchford" Hersey Invitational.  The Varsity team will have many home matches, so look at the schedule and come out to see us play.

2006 Varsity Recap

Last year the Redhawks were 2nd in the DuPage Valley Conference after enjoying a six-year reign at the top.  They also finished 2nd at the Naperville North Sectional, while sending the 1st Doubles team of Jordan Williams (2nd Place in Sectional) and Atul Gupta and the 1st Singles player Tyler Hoffman (3rd Place in Sectional) to the IHSA State Tournament.  Some highlights from last year include:

• Charles Harris' final year as Head Coach after 27 successful seasons as an IHSTCA Hall of Fame Coach

• 25th Place in State, 2nd at NNHS Sectional, 2nd in DVC

• Jordan Williams and Atul Gupta were 3rd Team All-State, finishing in the Top 25 at the State Tournament

• Tyler Hoffman finished in the Top 50 at the State Tournament   

• Five All-Conference Selections:  Jordan Williams, Rachit Marwaha, Tyler Hoffman, Neal Walters, Chad Loughmiller

• Conference Champions:  Jordan Williams 10-0 at 2nd Singles, Rachit Marwaha 10-0 at 4th Singles, Neal Walters and Chad Loughmiller 9-1 at 3rd Doubles

• Sophomore Team captures 2nd straight DVC Conference Title
