The Squat

Down the road in a gym far away

A young man was heard to say,

"No matter what I do, my legs won’t grow."

He tried leg extensions, leg curls, and the leg press too.

He tried to cheat, these sissy workouts he’d do.

From the corner of the gym where the big men train,

Through a cloud of chalk and a midst of pain,

Where the iron rides high and threatens life,

Where noise is made with big 45’s.

A deep voice bellowed as he wrapped his knees,

A very big man with legs like trees, Laughing as he snatched another plate form the stack,

Chalking his hands and monstrous back said, "Boy stop lying."

"Don’t say you’re forgotten."

"Trouble with you is,

You ain’t been squattin."

Football Website

We are working on our new website it should be informative and entertaining! It should be up and running in a few weeks. Kevin Schaffer, a junior, is a website guru and has done a lot of work to accomplish this website. Thanks to Kevin for all his help. He also likes football.

Athletic Scholarships

Congratulations to Pat Watson and Dan Passarelli! Pat signed a letter of intent to attend Bowling Green University; and Dan signed with Northern Illinois University. The signing date is usually the first Wednesday in February.

At Naperville Central High School we have had 470 seniors go through the program in the last 18 years, 25 players have received athletic scholarships at a Division 1 school, this is a 19:1 ratio. We can all be proud of those players who have dedicated themselves and worked hard to receive these scholarships.

According to the NCAA there are 2,140 football scholarships available to one million high school seniors participating in football each year. The chances are slim that a player will receive a scholarship, 467:1 is the ratio. The odds of a high school player making it to the "pros" at all - let alone having a career - are about 6,000 to 1.

While we wish all our players all the success in the world and would love tickets to your first professional event, we want you to be prepared for life! Be sure that you are able to obtain the job skills and the quality education that will move you above and beyond athletics and on to a successful career. It is important that the college of your choice offers you what you need to achieve your goals both on and off the football field.
