Star Lab Club
Each year the Star Lab set comes
to Beebe for each class to use. It goes out to every school in the district
for a couple of days. When the district first got this portable planetarium
ten years ago, it cost them about $10,000.00. We all agree that it is definitely
worth it.
The way Star Lab works is that a canister
with holes in it is put over a light. The light shines through the holes
creating the constellations. It looks like we are really looking at the
sky on a clear summer night. There are four canisters to look at. Two of
them have just the stars so we have to use our imagination a lot more to
see all the constellations. The other two have the constellations drawn
in so we can see what the constellations look like.
This extraordinary adventure is
one that all Beebe students look forward to.
