Project IDEA
at Beebe School is a place to read, to explore new things, and to work
together. PI students study the themes of Imaginations and Investigations on
a two-year curriculum cycle through reading, research, and group activities.
The Imaginations theme includes Poetry, Fantasy, the Classics, and
Historical Fiction. The year of Investigations includes Humor, Inventions,
Mystery, Science Fiction, and Biographies. Additionally, non-fiction reading
and research projects are woven through the PI curriculum. Learning new
vocabulary is also an important part of PI.
PI Students read novels, write in journals, and discuss their ideas in
both small and large groups. Through the novel studies and discussions,
students learn to take risks, confront new ideas, and explore issues.
Non-fiction reading and research gives the students opportunities to learn
about real-life problems and solutions. PI students also read independently
and make a class list of their favorite books.
