  Marcato: played with a heavy attack (tonguing) and separated by cutting off the air quickly from notes following;
characterized by the sound "Tut" or "Baht"

Agogic Accent: sometimes just referred to as "accent"; played with a heavy attack, but held for the entire value of the note;
characterized by the sound "Taaaah"

Staccato: played with a normal, light tongue and separated by stopping the air quickly from the notes following;
characterized by the sound "dit"

Legato: played with a normal, light tongue, connected to the following notes and held for the entire note�s value;
characterized by the sound "doo"
