OBJECTIVES:  HISTORIC, PATRIOTIC, AND EDUCATIONAL

MAIN PURPOSES:  EDUCATION IN OUR SCHOOLS

CURRENT ACTIVITIES:

  • Provide an opportunity for participation in the National DAR History Essay contest on a specific theme each year in 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.
  • Hold oral contests for 7th and 8th grade students with judges from DAR.
  • Select a DAR good citizen winner from each high school with the school's participation.
 AVAILABLE:
  • Junior American Citizen Clubs can be whole classrooms, any grade levels, schools, individuals, etc. Materials and contests provided by the National Society.
  • Flag programs and assemblies can be adapted to any grade level. Children can perform for city groups or other schools.
  • Genealogy forms can be provided as classroom projects or extra credit.
  • Programs on historical figures can be presented on any grade level.
  • Conservation projects can be coordinated through science classes.
  • ROTC medals can be provided if such a group already exists.
  • Good citizen medals can be provided - not connected with DAR Good Citizen Program.
